Global Cancer Observatory
Graphic representations by Global Cancer Observatory (GCO) show global statistics of oncological diseases. GCO is an interactive platform which visualizes indicators based on IARC (International Agency for Research of Cancer) data. Graphic representations by GCO are constantly improving in order to provide new and informative forms of presentation of global cancer data.
Data presented by GCO are the best available data about oncological diseases in individual countries. There are certain limits regarding the quality and completeness of data, especially in some developing countries.
The goal of GCO is not only to use the collected data, but also to improve their quality in cooperation with the countries.

NHIC: NUMBER OF NEWLY DIAGNOSED MALIGNANT TUMORS IN SLOVAKIA
Oncological diseases have long been the second most common cause of hospitalization and, apart from COVID-19, death in Slovakia. According to the latest data and calculations from the National Health Information Center, the majority of new cases were attributed to skin, colorectal and breast cancer.
While cases of brain cancer and leukemia have long dominated among children globally, skin, colorectal (i.e., large intestine, colon and rectosigmoid junction), breast, prostate and lung cancer are the most common in adult population. The number of new cases has an increasing tendency in Slovakia as well, with slight fluctuations due to the pandemic.
